The cafe was established six years ago and reinvented three years ago when Jamie Riley and Zac Stamos came from Melbourne and purchased their first business venture.

Jamie - who was originally a Heyfield boy - has an extensive hospitality background, while Zac has dabbled in hospitality and has great customer service knowledge behind him.

Eager to make their own stamp on the business, some minor interior changes were made to compliment the already homely feel to the cafe. Antique, as well as some retro furniture,  give the place a unique look.

Twelve months after taking on the business, Jamie and Zac took over the building next door, expanding the cafe to seat approximately 70 people. The cafe is also an ideal function area and offers a courtyard with seating capacity for around 40 more people.

The food ranges from the old classics to some varied modern styles, all being homemade on the premises including cakes, slices, relishes and dressings.

The cafe has won several awards including Best Cafe twice and Best Coffee in the Wellington People's Choice awards and numerous mentions in the Herald Sun and the Age.

Cafe 3858 can cater for functions from finger food to sit down menus. Opening hours are Wednesday to Friday 9.00am till 4.00pm, Saturdays and Sundays 9.00am till 3.00pm and open for dinners on request.

So next time you're in town or passing through, please call in and see Jamie, Zac and their friendly staff as they strive to provide great customer service with fantastic coffee and food.
